Just in case you're wondering what the Arctic Summer looks like at the North Pole, here you go! The North Pole usually sees some melting this time of year into early September before much colder air begins to take root in Autumn. The ice melt season is usually June through early September. This picture was captured today, an the temperature was around 50 degrees.
If you're wondering why you don't see Santa's workshop the answer is simple. It's INVISIBLE, silly!
Scott,
ReplyDeleteHow is the Arctic sea ice doing lately? I remember hearing awhile back that it is getting less and less ice each summer and might be totally ice free soon. Is that still trending that way? Also, is it true that global temperatures might begin to plunge this fall and winter?
aaah, makes me think of winter to come!
ReplyDeleteI'm not asking for any sort of winter prediction, by any means, Scott. But..do you have any gut feeling that this coming winter we could FINALLY see "the big one"?
So far, so good on the ice this Summer. The past few years we've seen a little more thickness in the ice but it's still in coverage WAY down from 30 years ago.
