IGOR OUTBOUND
Written by: Bob Metcalfe
Igor hit Bermuda today at cat 1 strength. As of this writing, the most recent data suggested maximum sustained winds around 80 mph or so. More than half of the island has lost power, with more expected as Igor slowly but surely chugs northward overnight. 15 foot high waves were seen crashing into the southern shores of the island.
From what I've read, it seems like most of the island is very optimistic at the downgraded strength of the storm, saying that cat 1 strength wouldn't cause catastrophic damages. At least that's a good way to look at it!
