Here We Go Again

Written by: Stacey Pensgen

Ok, we've had a few days off from the rain. In fact, as of Monday, we're running about 1/3" below average for August rainfall! Don't worry, Mother Nature is going to make sure we catch up starting tonight. A slow moving storm system will deliver several waves of rain to the area starting overnight. Most locations will pick up a general 0.25-0.75" of rain by Tuesday evening, but some embedded thunder will bring locally heavier and higher amounts. Given the wet pattern in the last few weeks, some localized flooding could once again become a concern, although this shouldn't be a prolonged event of that steady, heavier rain like we had before. Fall-ish air returns for Wednesday - Friday. The good news is at this point, the weekend is looking nice again!

I don't recall a pattern that so resembled autumn for such a long stretch in summer ever before. Summer 1992, following the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo, was the coolest in my 38 years of memory but it was still sunny most of the time with limited rain.

  8. For those saying 3 weeks ago that it has been a cool wet summer, I would vigorously disagree. However the last two weeks have definitely been cool and wet. If this continues it's not gonna be good.

Joe Bastardi has the winters of 1977-78, 2002-03 and 2009-10 as his top analogs, so there's that...lol

  12. I guess how this week feels will be dependent upon how and when the rain comes. High Temps will be close to normal at least.
