Stubborn Storm = Great Weather For Us!

That's right, it's a storm that has been helping out with all of the mainly dry and warm weather Western New York and the Finger Lakes have been seeing lately. "How," you might ask?

Well, the culprit is the storm stationed just off the East Coast on this satellite photo (seen as a bright white batch of clouds over the Mid-Atlantic). It has been nearly stalled-out for days, "log-jamming" the highway of air that escorts storms eastward. This has slowed most of the systems across the country to a grind. Luckily enough, when the pattern came to a halt, it was fair-weather that was overhead. Therefore, that's what we continue to see!

  3. The stalled storm acts almost like a parked car in the "highway" of air that guides the systems across the country. One system cannot "jump" over another. This means if one system stalls, effectively, so do all the others behind it. For example, while we had stagnant fair weather, areas of Oklahoma in the Mid-West received over an inch of rain in an hour out of slow-moving rains!
