Yes, It Does Snow In South America...
...but it doesn't happen very often, at least not in Buenos Aires, Argentina. They received their first appreciable snowfall yesterday (as you can see in the picture on the right) in about 90 years! Although an occasional sleet pellet or bout of freezing rain has been reported in the more recent past, the last official report of snow was back in 1918, meaning, for many, it was the first time in their lifetimes that they had seen any of the white stuff. Of course, in Argentina and the Southern Hemisphere it is the heart of Winter right now, but here in Western New York, where of course it is the full heat of Summer, we wouldn't have minded seeing some of the cold weather and chilly flakes, with blazing sun and highs in the scorching middle 90's yesterday.
