Colder, lake snow showers Friday morning
Written by: Scott Hetsko
The map to the left represents forecasted temperatures about 5,000 feet or so above your head! We look at these temperatures often when we're forecasting the potential for lake effect precipitation (rain or snow). Once there is a temperature difference of about 13 degrees Celsius (20-22 Fahrenheit) lake effect snowfall becomes possible. A cold Northerly flow would produce multiple bands of snow showers off Lake Ontario to start Friday. Accumulations will be minimal with a couple inches possible well Northeast and Southwest of Rochester metro.
