More Snow And Ice Coming Sunday
Written by: Scott Hetsko
Here we go again! Another surge of warm air will attempt to override the colder air which has lived in Western New York the past week. Cold air stubborn and therefore resistant to change. Warmer air is forced to run over the colder air near the surface. This rising air, called isentropic lift, often generates precipitation. Snow will develop late morning and continue through most of the afternoon Sunday. Enough warm air aloft will change the snow to sleet and possibly freezing rain in the Southern Tier. I don't expect significant icing but up to 1/4 inch of ice is possible well South of Rochester.
How much ice does it look like we could get enough for an ice storm warning you think?
