Oh What A Week! January 1978

Written By: Scott Hetsko

This January, as expected, has been a no show when it comes to snow. We do expect some light snow this week but nothing close to what happened here 30 years ago. The map on the right shows daily snowfall in Rochester from the January 14th through the January 20th, 1978. By week's end we recorded 36.4" of fresh snowfall. January 1978 ended up with 60.4" of snow for the month. That record was broken just 4 years ago when 61.3" of snow fell in January 2004.
