SNOWY, AVERAGE COLD THIS PAST WINTER
Written by: Scott Hetsko
Winter hung on for most of March as low pressure over Eastern Canada kept a constant flow of Polar air into Western New York. The average temperature for Rochester in March was 31.5 degrees; -2.4 degrees below our 30 year average. Only two days were over 50 degrees, normally there are 8 days higher than 50 degrees. March snowfall was well above average with 23.6", a full 7" higher than normal. Winter saw only two large snowfalls (over 6" ), one in early December and the other March 7th through 9th. All in all, Winter turned out as forecast for Western New York. Think warm thoughts!
