BLUE SKIES RETURN LATER THIS WEEK

Rochester and clouds go together in Winter as we all know. It looks like we'll enjoy a few days break from that pattern beginning as early as Wednesday afternoon. A strong ridge will slowly ooze Southeast from Central Canada the next couple of days. The result will be increasing sunshine and seasonable temperatures.
This surface high pressure will also deflect a storm well to our South on Friday. Our next storm is the one crashing into California now. That system will track into the great lakes on Sunday. We'll get wind, rain and then somewhat colder air back into town later Monday of next week. No great weather ahead of those of you starving for a big snowstorm!
Are there ANY hints anywhere that suggest a major pattern change back to prolonged eastern cold will be coming down the road? I was getting excited for it a few days back, but now all I hear is mild and bland for the foreseeable future. Grrrrr, winter can't end like this!
ReplyDeleteI hear ya there, this thaw came out of nowhere and now who knows when it comes back. and what sucks is we havent had a single big storm (other than lake effect) yet...and it's almost February. scott does it frustrate you too?

ReplyDeleteThere is a buzz going around about what is being called a "SUPER stratospheric warming event" about to take place. Apparently this is going to help be the pre-cursor to the potential sub zero cold you hinted at. But what does a warming of the stratosphere have to do with us getting cold? (Hopefully i'm not getting in over my head with that question, lol.)
Ho hum, boring, boring, boring weather. When the pattern changes back to cold there will be no storms.. You watch. Or they will go to far South and East like they have all winter so far. We will get our 100 inches of snow this year, but 90 of it will be from lake effect.
