A LITTLE DROP, BUT THAT'S ALL
Written by: Bob Metcalfe
We'll take a few steps back in the temperature department over the next few days, with the "bottom" slated for Wednesday. But thanks to our recent stretch of mild temps, even cooler air won't bring us below the seasonal norms!
You can see the setup above, as an arctic high brings northerly winds across the region by Tuesday and Wednesday. Although it brings colder air, it will also prevent any major precipitation in either rain or snow from forming. Only a few weak low pressure areas will scoot along the jetstream, but effects will be nothing more than clouds for most of us.
The warmup process kicks back in by Friday, as we return to temperatures that are a lot like this weekend by next weekend. Best chance for our next dance with sun will be Thursday afternoon.
I love the weather. I enjoy watching storms move in during the summer. And the snow that accumulates by the hour during th winter.
ReplyDeleteWhat I would love to know is are there any online weather models that us amatuer meterologists can use.
Thanks
Gilbert,
ReplyDeleteThere is a PLETHORA of models. In fact, all the data we use, with exception to very little all comes free!
Since I cannot copy and paste links into this box, I want you to google search:
"Penn State E-wall"
That's a comprehensive modeling site, and is a great place to start. That should keep you busy for a while.
Also search "Golden Gate weather loops".
If you just do a search for NCEP models, NWS models, etc you'll find a bunch more, but those are two of my favorite free sites.
Gilbert & Bob - I did post this morning a nice post answering Gilbert's question and listing some nice websites that give anyone the access to models
