NOT A BAD WEEKEND FORECAST

Written by: Brian Neudorff

As a cold front sweeps across Western New York on Friday, clouds will hold on and there will be times of very light drizzle, mainly through the morning. Temperatures will fall slightly behind this front into the mid to low 30s by evening. May not be the best day but our break from the cold and continued above average temperatures continue.

The weekend looks pretty good with highs in the 40s and some sunshine both Saturday and Sunday. It is possible that Saturday is the best day of the weekend all depending on what happens with the coastal storm. There have been some minor changes in the models and some of them want to print out some clouds or even some precipitation for our region on Sunday.

At this point, I'm going to keep with the going forecast trend, and keep Sunday dry and partly sunny. There will be a storm coming out of the Gulf Saturday into Sunday that will move up along the coast. This will bring rain and very little snow to parts of the Mid-Atlantic and New England. I wouldn't be surprised if parts of the eastern Finger Lakes saw some clouds and maybe some light rain or flurries but for Rochester and most locations to the west it looks to be a fair and quiet weekend. Hope everyone enjoys.

  1. I'm hearing a bunch of mets talk about this huge return to winter sometime between late January or early Feb, and not just a garden variety return, but a major, nasty return to severe winter conditions. Hmmm, it should get interesting here soon!

  2. Snow is melting quick. It will gone by next week. I looked at the GFS and there is no sign of winter returning anytime soon.

  3. The longer it's gone the better!!! It's nice just getting in the car without having to spend a half hour scraping and digging. Cold is OK, like heat you don't have to shovel it.
