NOT ONE MARCH LIKE THIS SINCE 1884!
Written By: Scott Hetsko
Given the way February ended, I would have bet you my house that we'd at least get an inch of snow in March. Good thing I didn't make that bet! Rochester has yet to record any snow this month, a first since records have been kept 126 years ago! But you're saying hey we've still got a week left true but other that a small shot of some wet snow showers in the early hours of Friday morning, we're out of chances!
The coldest air of the entire month will be here Friday as temperatures struggle to reach the low 30s with lots of sunshine. Milder air over the weekend and a warmup as we end the month pretty much insures a snowless March here in the flower city! Makes me wonder what April will deliver...
Hi Scott I saw the GFS and some of the ensembles are showing a big time warm up in the longer range. The GFS is showing us up to positive 10c at 850 for the first time in a long time. IF that were to happen, what would that equal at the surface? near 70?
ReplyDeleteNWS is saying nice and warm and dry for at least first 7 days of April--let's hope so.
ReplyDeleteWonder why all those snowless Marchs were so long ago--must've been global warming.
haha, you're on the wrong blog, NY123. Might I refer you to Bob's post? There's a great debate going on there.
ReplyDeleteSigns of very warm weather looking good beginning next Wednesday. I think we got a good shot at 70 degrees next Thursday!
ReplyDeleteOn the GW topic, scary deal about a small island near India which has now gone underwater.

So do you believe sea levels really are rising, Scott?
ReplyDeleteWhen an island disappears, it's not really a matter of belief its an observation. I've always said that change is occurring but the "why" for me is still up in the air.
ReplyDeleteScott,
ReplyDeleteSome trees at my house are starting to bud already. If temps hit near 70 for a few days, will that really jump start everything greening up around here? Wouldn't that be remarkably early for foliage to start blooming this spring?
Let's hope that April doesn't "spring" a lot of leaks.
