ONLY SOAKING RAIN FOR SOME

Written by: Bob Metcalfe
After today's bonus sunshine, I'm even more skeptical of decent rain falling in the next day and a half. I guess the dry air between us and the storm was underestimated!
While most of tonight will be dry, we can expected showers to develop during the morning tomorrow, falling into the afternoon. The 18z run is shown at left bringing a fair amount of rain to us by 2pm tomorrow. I'd suspect a tenth of an inch or so by looking at the newest data. On/off showers will accompany us for the afternoon hours, and we could see a redevelopment of light, steady rain overnight Monday into early Tuesday. Once Tuesday afternoon gets here, most of this will be well past us and we'll look towards more sunshine.
An interesting note I wanted to highlight from a comment in the previous blog post by a reader: Never in our 100+ years of recorded weather data in Rochester have we had a snowless March. The least was .09". If this forecast keeps along the path I see it going down, we could set another record! Wow!

  1. I think it's 0.9" (1946) not 0.09" for least snow in March.
Looks like we could do it--let's hope so.
Playing golf, 63 out and running, yard work already done--no more snow!!!!

  2. What's most amazing is the fact that the lilacs are already beginning to inflate their buds, and the grass is noticably greener....in the middle of MARCH!

  3. Nice isn't it?
I think the next two weeks could get a little nippy so the plants could get a rude (but expected)surprise.
