TOP 5 SOAKING SUMMERS SINCE 1990

Written By: Scott Hetsko

Predicting precipitation is difficult all year but it is particularly challenging during the Summer months. That is because most of the rain that falls is "convective" rather than "synoptic". Basically that means that instead of large storm systems bringing a large shield of rain over the region, we get highly localized storms.

There have been many wet Summer's over the past 20 years and this year we rank 4th with just under 13" since June 1st. We've still got two more weeks until September and it's quite possible that we can reach #2 in the rankings. The 1998 Summer is safe, I don't see that much rain over the next 14 days.
