90 INCHES WITH LOTS OF WINTER LEFT!
Written By: Scott Hetsko
Record snow in December was followed by an almost daily supply of light snow showers in our region which collectively adds up! Although Rochester has only had a hand ful of 6" snowfall this season, we are already at 90". As you know, the average for the airport is about 100" the past 30 years. I would expect about another 15-25" are still out there "officially".
I do expect a significant pattern change to develop in the Jetstream later next week which should put Winter on hold for awhile. 50s are possible around here by next Friday or Saturday if a more Zonal flow develops as forecast.
hey Scott did you see the flash of light in the sky last night and have a reason of why it happen??

The mets are quiet. Maybe that flash is classifed information lol.
ReplyDeleteI don't know and haven't heard about anything in the sky last night, sorry. I have noticed some "bright" nighttime overcast recently. As for our weather, it's going to be pretty quiet so I guess the chatter will go down a bit.

The Rochester airport is now officially up to 92.1" for the season. Only 7.9" needed and we'll be able to say we hit 100" this winter.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, Rochester is second place in the golden snowball derby only to Syracuse. Rochester is lagging way behind. They're only at 78" so far.
Correction: Meant to say "Buffalo is lagging way behind"...Not Rochester.
ReplyDeleteSo what happened to next week's warm-up? I see highs will only be the 20's early next week.
