  1. Nasty out there tonight, snowmobilers are out, and visibility is not good riding. Snow and blowing snow was wicked a little bit in Byron. Rode back to pavilion.

  2. Well it is time to get over the miss and move on to the next potential storm. Does anyone know are the latest models showing any potential stroms for our area?

  3. Do people not realize the amount of snow they actually got because when I went out plowing at 3 am there was 5 inches of snow at my house and it kept snowing after that before the sleet began. When I got home the sleet compacted the snow to about 3 1/2 inches at 8 am so everyone most likely got more snow than you think.

  4. I think we're all a bit emotionally drained from this still :)

  5. I don't know about you guys but I have had snow at my house on the ground for the last two months. I guess that's the one good thing about this winter as long as you live north of the thruway :)

  6. Yeah other than no storms, and the fresh burn of this last one being a bust, I would agree that it's been pretty good north of the thruway if you like snow cover. And for those of us that are skiers, the snow making conditions have generally been good since early December and Bristol has had superbly beautiful skiing all season thus far.

Still a nice snow storm would be nice.

And another thing, these guys at news 8 weather are top notch. It's great they are willing to run this blog, share their thoughts/knowledge and brave enough to open themselves up to criticism.

    Thanks
    AL

  7. Yeah, anon, I agree. I was out shoveling around 3:30 and there was a good 4-5. Then the sleet came and the snow on the ground got heavy and damp. And after tonight, I say totals from this morning and tonight around 7-8 inches. So, not too bad after all. And judging on what the snow pack looked like yesterday, there is noticeably more snow!

  8. There is talk from TWC of a possible storm Friday/Saturday. It has the three famous mixes to it as well..snow, sleet and rain. My guess is rain if anything for us. Scott? Thoughts??

  9. I agree AL, it is a wonderful privalage to have this blog to read and post thoughts and get answers before scheduled air time...it is something the other stations don't offer (I don't think)...so thank you news 8 for taking the time to keep this blog going and keeping the criticism professional. I know a lot of us were disappointed, but you all handled it like pros!

  10. Chris, it would be highly unlikely to fall as rain. The way the two pieces of energy are tracking would give us a mix worse case. But it shouldn't be anything more than light accumulations from it anyway. And scott, does next weeks pattern look impressive to you considering how far down the projected cold air is going to press!? It showed temperatures in the single digits in texas!

  11. 3+ fresh inches on the ground in North Greece, since 6pm

  12. Scott, does next week look like a typical setup for the country during february? The jet appears to dive way down by the middle of next week and continues to hint towards continuing to stay active.

  13. Blog all quiet people must still be in shock over the storm miss. It must also be quiet with no strom threats in the next week?

  14. i'm just upset at myself for getting caught up in the hype. I know channel 8/fox mets didn't hype it. I am not blaming any news station, that is their job the hype it up and get people to watch. I knew it would be too good to be true. i read scotts post at 9:30ish tuesday night before going to bed and i was really dissapointed. it shows how quicly things can change even if a model shows two days out it will be a direct hit. After getting nothing near what we thought, I was about to give up on watching the weather and this blog for the rest of the winter, but does anyone have any prospects on anything good coming down the pipe?

  15. Well Scott now that you are the feature in News 8 ads the important question becomes---Do you get a raise?
