Brisk & Milder Today; Colder Tomorrow

Written by John DiPasquale:

Hello bloggers! Well, the Rochester airport has cracked 50" of snow for the season so far thanks to Saturday's bit of wrap around & lake snows that fell. That put's this winter in 9th place as far as the least snowiest winters on record less than 3" away from being out of the top 10 least snowiest winters. At this time it does not look like we will pick up any significant snows this week, but maybe a touch late tonight & early tomorrow & again Wednesday morning & a little mixed in with rain Thursday to kick off March. There may be a bit of icing Wednesday morning, which could cause a slick morning commute but any precipitation should change to rain showers for much of the afternoon. Portions of CNY, though, may have some more significant icing take place especially near & north & east of Syracuse on Wednesday. Stay tuned.

Either way, the weather should quiet down later Thursday into Friday, before the next system warm us up with some rain Friday night into Saturday & then a shot of cold air blows in for Sunday & Monday with some lake snows possible to end the weekend. It looks like the up & down pattern will continue right into March with no major pattern changes in the foreseeable future.

Have a great night everyone!

  3. By the way have you all realized we are sitting in first place in the golden snowball contest by over 10 inches. Rochester has not won in a long time maybe this year will be the year we win. We should feel lucky that we are the ones in NY getting all of the snow compared to everywhere else.

  4. wish there was something exciting to talk about on here. This is pretty much it for winter isn't it? no possibility of a big storm?

  5. What is Wednesday looking like can we expect much snow sleet or more rain and when does the changeover occur?

  6. Many of the long range models are hinting at a pretty sizable warm-up around March 10 (first true signs of spring). Anyone have any thoughts on this?

  7. Winter is done no storms out there. Amazing not one big synoptic snowstorm of at least 10 inches the whole winter.

  8. What do think are the chances of a 60 degree, sunny parade day on the 17th? We haven't had one of those in quite a few years.
