Tranquil Today; Turbulent Tomorrow?

Written by John DiPasquale:

Today will be nice, but after midnight through Thursday this will change due to a pretty intense storm system and it's warm & cold front.  First, the warm front will be pulled into & likely just through late tonight/early Thursday.  This should create at least a few showers & storms, a couple of which could be nasty.  Then Thursday afternoon into the evening the storm system will drag a cold front through, which if you don't get widespread t-storm activity to begin Thursday, we will likely get it later in the day into the evening.  Any of the storms ahead & with the cold front later Thursday &/or early Thursday night could also be strong to severe with damaging winds, large hail & torrential rains.  Highs on Thursday should range from about 85 to 90, but even a bit hotter to the south.  The entire region should feel super high humidity levels Thursday too.

Behind the cold front Thursday night the weather will be relatively quieter for Friday with just a few pop-up showers & storms around.  Temperatures will also be a bit cooler Friday 80 to 85.

The weekend at this point looks pretty uneventful & pleasant.  Stay tuned for updates throughout the week.

Have a great day everyone!

  2. I'm just hoping it doesn't impact my ability to play golf tomorrow after work.

So glad to see some rain though.

  3. Looks like the main cluster will be after midnight, but the way high pressure has dominated us this summer, who knows if rain will even come!!!

  4. I believe the drought will end tonight. The cluster is right over Toronto heading SE right at us.

  5. I just hope the pop up showers they are calling for on Friday are earlier in the day. We want to get to our first Rhinos game of the season this Friday night.

  6. I think it would be great if News 8 would forecast dew points on a regular basis. It makes a difference in my plans almost as much as regular temperature and rain. Plus, dew points forecast would indicate a more accurate measure of humidity level, right?
    Thanks for reading/responding.

  7. The Relative Humidity given by many can be very misleading. Dewpoint Temp/ (divided by) Air Temp * (multiplied by) 100. You can have 100% humidity although it might not feel humid at all, or you can have a Relative humidity 60-65% and the humidity might feel oppressive. You are correct dew point is everything, however it is forecasted all the time by news 8. Maybe not exact numbers but they will always give you a range.
