Some Moderation Ahead
Written by John DiPasquale:
Wow! 22 years ago we were in the midst of one of the biggest ice storm's in our history. 1 to 2" of ice accumulated on trees & power lines bringing down over 10,000 trees just in the greater Rochester area alone! Over 325,000 lost power at the height of the storm, & some did not get it back for weeks! It also was the most expensive natural disaster in NYS up to that point in time, costing 375 million dollars to clean up & make repairs across WNY!
Thankfully, nothing like that so far this month, & it looks like we will feel & look better for the most part on our Tuesday with some sun developing, less wind & slightly milder temperatures. Wednesday through Friday the developing nor'easter will stay mainly off to the east, but attempt to throw a little precipitation in here at times, especially later Thursday night into Friday in the form of some snow showers & flurries. So other than clouds, some wind & a little snow at times the affects will be minimal with the big cities experiencing the biggest impacts from this storm. Temperatures will be in the 30s for much of the rest of this week.
Other than a little warm up over the weekend it appears much of next week & beyond will be dropping back below average & remaining pretty wintry. We'll see...Have a nice night & Tuesday everyone!

Just bring out the sun please!!!!!
ReplyDeletedo you think we will have any 50s this month?
ReplyDeleteYes
DeleteIm ready for spring now. I was hoping that warm up was the start of something good. Not excited about more winter..
ReplyDeleteFor anyone with experience with this region, March is almost always far more winter like.
ReplyDeleteExpecting spring to arrive in early - mid March is an unrealistic expectation.
Out on a limb - we will not have a 60+ degree day the entire month of March. Last year, we had 6 days in the 80s!
ReplyDeleteChris,
DeleteI don't think you're that far out on that limb with such prediction. I'm with you.
Andy
I have been saying this all along. This Spring will be colder and wetter than normal. The Summer could turn out that way also.
DeleteReally anonymous 8:17? And we should believe an anonymous poster, why?
DeleteOOz Euro big bomb storm 6 days from now right over Ohio at least worth keeping an eye on. We know that it will pan out but at least something to track and you never know.
ReplyDeleteThis is will NOT pan out.
ReplyDelete6 DAYS OUT? Not going to happen!
ReplyDeleteYou never know it is around the date of the 1993 Superstorm.
ReplyDeleteDC is getting snow. The end of the world is here. Really???? The media is rediculous.
ReplyDeletelol, I swear every week on here..."looks like a monster 7 days out..." been happening since november, only monster on here is in my pants.
ReplyDeleteWinter is over. A whopping 70" of snow for the year. Pathetic for 2 years in a row.
ReplyDeleteThe big storm that we just missed out on seemed to largely be a slushy bust for many. Glad it was never something expected here or we'd have been disappointed.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't--- LOVE the ones that miss.
