BUFFALO BILLS: STORM READY!
Written by: Bob Metcalfe
The Buffalo Bills may not be in the playoffs, but they are making some important moves in the off-season. No, these aren't changes in the roster, rather a preparation for what could be one of the toughest opponents of all: Mother Nature.
The Buffalo Bills are the first team in the NFL to earn "StormReady" status from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
Many localities, counties and other public venues across the country have been working to become StormReady since the programs inception in 1999, in order to better protect the public from severe or hazardous weather. To date, there are over 1300 communities nationwide participating in this program.
What does this mean? A strict set of guidelines are in place, which include the development of severe weather safety plans, actively promoting severe weather safety awareness, as well as conducting safety training.
Monroe county is the only county in the Greater Rochester area that is currently StormReady.
