La Nina Returns To The Pacific
Written By: Scott Hetsko
A colder than normal water temperature in the equatorial Pacific (La Nina) has been present since late December. As you can see from the picture on the left, usually this means milder and wetter conditions in the Eastern third of the U.S. There is a lag time between formation and pattern change. We know this because of the very cold month of January here in Rochester.
I do expect the remainder of our Winter to not be as harsh although another snowstorm of two may occur. Look for the storm track to shift West of Rochester which would mean more rain, wind and then colder weather following the storms.
