CANNONBALL HAIL IN CANNON BALL, ND

Some impressive storms moved across the Northern Plains last night. There were numerous severe storm warning and tornado warnings even when I got up around 2:30am. These storms produced some impressive hail for a few locations. The Storm Prediction Center reports that 3 locations in North Dakota had hail over 4 inches in diameter.
The picture linked above is from KFYR-TV in Bismarck ND, (that is the station where I first started my broadcast career) from one of their viewers in Cannon Ball, ND which is southeast of Bismarck. That is some large hail and I can tell you from experience they can see some wild summer storms.
wow!!!!!! that hail is huge i have only seen pea size hail! that is amazing and must of been scary for the people last night

ReplyDeleteCannon Ball is SouthWEST of Bismarck. The local autobody shop in Elgin, ND, which is west of Cannon Ball, had to place an order for 50 windshields!!
ReplyDeleteI don't mind being corrected when I make a mistake but I didn't this time and I even have the google map to prove it
ReplyDeleteIf we want to get specific then Cannon Ball is more due south of Bismarck than Southeast but there is definitely a small easterly component there.
Yes Elgin is west of both of them, and that is impressive that 50 windshields have to be replaced
