ROCHESTER WARMER THAN SAN DIEGO!
Written by: Bob Metcalfe
That title is no lie. Rochester is warmer (and by a decent amount) than San Diego, California for the month of July. While we are seeing a relatively warmer-than-average July, with our average temperature now sitting at 74.2 degrees, San Diego is quite the contrary: their average temperature this month is just 65.9 degrees, putting them at one of the coldest July's in their history!
The reason may have something to do with the developing La Nina. La Nina is characterized by cooling of the waters in the southern Pacific and near the equator. Looking at sea surface temperature anomaly plots its easy to see the cold anomalies along the southern shores of California and the Baja Peninsula.
