RIDING HIGH ON TUESDAY

Written By: Scott Hetsko

The warmest air of the entire month of October will likely be here Tuesday afternoon. Strong Southerly winds out ahead of a cold front will advect very warm air into our region. I also expect our skies to be partly to mostly sunny which will help in warming us here at the surface.

The record high for Tuesday is 79 set in 1963 and we are forecasting a high of 77 for the airport. Thanks to some downsloping in the Genesee valley, a few usually warmer areas South may touch 80 degrees. Don't look for any showers or storms until very late evening and overnight Wednesday morning.

  2. Sorry. Advection in meteorology is defined as a horizontal transport of "anything" whether it be temperatures, dewpoint, vorticity (spin) etc.
