WINTER NOT READY TO GIVE UP
(06Z NAM at 1pm Wednesday)
Written by: Brian Neudorff
There has already been discussion about snow heading into Wednesday. It looks like that is a real possibility and maybe a wintry mix and snow depending on where the storm passes and of course the associated 850 low. With each run, I watch the surface low moving farther and farther south and both the GFS and NAM at 06Z are agreeing more on an all snow solution.
People were asking if this snow will be a wet snow? Yeah with the temperatures near and maybe even above freezing for a time this will be a wet snow. No forecasts on amounts just yet. Amounts this time of year are challenging with the higher sun angle and with the melting and warmer temperatures the ground has thawed. We will keep you updated.
We're officially at 119.9" for the season. By this time next week, we should be able to say we had a 120"+ season. Not too bad. Still wish spring would get here though. If only we had another spring like last year. Not counting on that one happening though...
ReplyDeleteAm I correct with saying that the 12Z NAM has a good size snow storm for many later this week?
ReplyDeleteYes, Wednesday and Wednesday night look very interesting - especially if the latest 12z NAM is on to something.
ReplyDeleteScott what do you think about Wednesday? Will we get accumulating snow?
ReplyDeleteYes I'm just about certain that we will get an accumulating snow Wednesday. I'll have a fresh post up on this in a few hours. More detailed then, thanks!

Sometimes I wish I didn't know of so many weather sites. Accuweather, known for hype, is indicating a swath of snow in the order of 3 to 6 inches, possible 10 inches, might run right through NYS on Wed.
ReplyDeleteAnd, they also say winter will hang on in the northeast for several more week...into the middle of April.
What's up with that?
