A few afternoon pop-up storms will have to be watched

Written by John DiPasquale:
Well, yesterday was pretty active during the afternoon & evening as expected with several severe thunderstorm warnings issued. However, today will likely not be as active, but should still entail at least a few scattered showers & storms this afternoon & evening. Any storm that does develop later today will have the potential to become severe, so keep an eye to the sky & News 8 if you have outdoor plans this afternoon.

Late tonight into the start of our Thursday will likely be quite rainy & stormy with a few severe storms possible again, as a strong cold front blows through during the early to mid morning hours Thursday. Behind the cold front, it will be windy & turn cooler with temps falling out of the 60s & into the 50s by day's end. Another cold front will move through Thursday night/early Friday with more cold air advection & lead to a slightly unsettled, brisk & chilly Friday.

The weekend right now looks great Saturday with sun & highs in the low to mid 60s. Sunday on the other hand will likely feature a few scattered showers & storms. Have a great day & stay cool everyone!

  1. Wondering how close we're getting to that record, after all of yesterday's rain?

  2. NWS has issued a Flood watch and wind advisory for the region for tonight through tomorrow. Sounds like we're in for more "pleasant weather".

  5. Technically, NO front went through. Just rain cooled air. Tonight will be down right balmy, as the cold front has about 12 more hours to go before it crosses the area.

  6. Big chunk of the Dansville high school roof was ripped off. Downburst probably? Radar had a small bow echo when it went through.

  7. I understand we broke the all time April rain total. Okay, we broke the record, let's shut the water off for awhile.
