0.25" FROM A NEW RECORD

Written By: Scott Hetsko

Good afternoon! We are just a few raindrops away from hitting an all time record for April rainfall for Rochester. Severe afternoon storms today missed the city but more thunderstorms are developing to our Southwest this afternoon. Really amazing meso climatic weather today. At one point this afternoon it was 83 in Dansville and 41 at a Bouy observation near Webster!

More Summerlike humidity and thunderstorms likely here on Wednesday. Don't forget about our Severe Weather Special which airs this Saturday night at 7 p.m. on channel 8!

  1. Were those 4 dry days in a row I saw at the end of that 7 day forecast?

  2. Scott,
Is the tornado risk that was present today also a risk tomorrow? Or will the rotation factor no longer be present with the storms that fire up tomorrow?

  3. When the heck is it going to warm up by the lake? It seriously has not gotten above 50 north of 104 where I live. And it STILL is cold. Only 47 degrees on my thermometer. What gives? Is it going to be like this tomorrow too??

  6. There was a report of one, and a Tornado Warning was issued. But, I don't believe it has been officially confirmed yet.

Overly optimistic. And if we do get more than 48 dry hours they'll probably start the "we need some rain" like they always do.

  8. Sal in Lyons,

I don't think we are going to see 4 dry days in a row, but hopefully we can squeeze a couple much needed consecutive days without rain next week. Stay tuned.

    SummerFan,

There is some rotation in the atmosphere this afternoon, but especially late tonight ahead & with the cold front. However, with the frontal passage early to mid morning tomorrow there will not really be any daytime heat to work with for any storms that are around. So with that being said, I am not too concerned about tornadoes with the storms, but I can't rule it totally out, since there could be a few severe storms late today & again late tonight & early tomorrow. Stay tuned. No tornado confirmed yet in Rome, but the NWS out of Binghamton are surveying the damage currently. Look forward to hearing the verdict & based on radar echoes yesterday late of those storms I would not be surprised to hear the tornado confirmation.

    LakeShorez,

You should have no problem warming up this afternoon, as strong enough southerly flow will push your temps well into the 70s also. Finally! Right?
