Improving Weather Ahead!
Written by John DiPasquale:
Oh yeah! The sun will return today after some morning dense fog & low clouds. The culprit for providing the sun today, tomorrow & right into much of the weekend is an area of high pressure that's building in from the north as I type. High temperatures will vary greatly between lake shore communities & the rest of the area through Saturday due to a lake breeze developing each afternoon off the 38 degree Lake Ontario waters. So while many of us will feel 50ish today, 50 to 55 Friday & near 60 Saturday, near the big lake we will likely get no higher than the low to mid 40s, but at least we will all have some nice sun.
Come Sunday, a storm hooking to the west will swing a warm front through with a few scattered showers & storms possible when it passes. Temperatures should warm into the low to mid 70s for all to finish off the weekend, as the general flow will likely be strong enough out of the south to prevent any lake influence. Stay tuned to News 8 & enjoy the sun & nicer weather ahead everyone!
So is this it? Is spring finally here, or is there more cold lurking for later in the month?
ReplyDeleteA pretty cool contrast in temps today. As of 1PM it is 32F with dense fog within about 0.50mi of the lakeshore. At the same time, temps are approaching 50F with brilliant sunshine from about the southern half of the city southward (KROC is at 49F). Not as impressive as what happened last year when it was 40 on the lake with a dense fog marine layer and 80 in Henrietta, but maybe we'll get another one of those days before the spring is over.
ReplyDeleteDecent day, played golf, finally.
ReplyDeleteDrove past Durand Beach at about 2:30. It's as gloomy as can be there. It's dark, very foggy and bitter cold.
ReplyDeleteThat 7-day keeps on getting warmer...NICE!!!!
ReplyDeleteDK - just curious how you learned all of your weather facts and information. You seem very knowledgable and are typically right on with forecasts!
ReplyDeleteAmazing the difference locally today from lake shore and towns just a few miles South. Low 40s and dense fog along the parkway today but sunny in the city!

Weather has always been an interest to me since I was a little kid (my first book was a weather book when I was 6). I didn't just like to observe the weather, but I always wanted to know why it happened. So, just a lot of book reading and research over time, as well as studying the local climate here in WNY has made me more knowledgable than the average person. I would have majored in meteorology in college, but I figure the very high level of math required would have kick my butt.
ReplyDeleteDK - you definitely have the "knowledge". A degree is a "piece of paper". Its the research and experience, and practice that make a person knowledgeable, and you definitely have met those things!!!!! Thanks for your posts on this blog!!
