Much Needed Dry Stretch Continues!

Written by John DiPasquale:

Another nice day will be experienced by us here in WNY thanks to our friends up in Canada! High pressure centered in Eastern Canada will keep us protected from the inclement weather across the Central & Western Lakes today & right through the rest of this week! Boy, did we need a nice dry stretch of weather like this. Temperatures with the help of the strong May sun will climb well into the 60s today, & mainly into the 70s tomorrow through Friday! It's going to look & feel great! Enjoy!

The early weekend outlook, which includes the kick off of Lilac Festival, is looking better than it did yesterday with a few scattered showers possible later in the day Saturday, & more numerous showers possible Sunday into Monday. We'll see if the rain actually makes it here with that weekend storm, as high pressure to the northeast attempts to keep it away. Stay tuned to News 8 for the latest regarding the changeable weekend forecast.

  1. I love living on the lakeshore for the lake effect. But it's not so pleasant this time of year. Yesterday hardly broke 50 degrees, and it's still only 47 according to my backyard thermometer which sits in the shade about 30 yards from the beach. Enjoy your 60's and 70's all you folks away from the lakeshore.

  2. I hear ya lakeshore. Its always funny to watch the evening news and hear Scott talk about "the official high temperature" for the day. Basically, slash about 1/3 off of any given high and you get what it actually was at my house (about 1 mile down the shore from Hamlin Beach). People are walking through highland park with short sleeves, and we're up here shivering with jackets on!

  3. Correct me if I'm wrong, but some of the long range data is indicating a rather substantial cool down for next week. Even your day 7 is showing temps some 10 degrees below normal.

  4. Yes, Lake Ontario is an unwanted air conditioner this time of year, but come the summer it's a different story.

You are correct Sal. It does look cooler & pretty wet much of next week right now, but there's still time for that to change. Keep your fingers crossed for better changest!
