Soak it Up Everyone!

Written by John DiPasquale:

High pressure as seen in the pic to the left continues to keep us protected from storminess just out the west across the Central & Upper Great Lakes. Unfortunately, it does appear that the blocking ridge of high pressure extending to the southwest from the North Atlantic & Eastern Canada is going to weaken enough to allow for some showers & a storm or two to develop by weeks end & the weekend.

A complex, very slow moving, stationary at times, storm system will keep it kind of unsettled at times Friday through at least the first half of next week the way it looks now. Temperatures will range from the upper 60s to mid 70s from today through the weekend, but 50s to low 60s along the lake shore. As of now, it does NOT look like any one of the weekend days will be washouts, but if you are going to be out at Lilac Festival you will want to have the umbrella handy.

The unsettled weather looks like it may continue through at least the first half of next week, along with much cooler temperatures. Stay tuned.

  1. Here are the temperature lines as of this post time based on area temperature reporting sites such as WeatherBug:

Upper 40's within 1 to 2 miles of the lake Ontario shore.

Mid 50's right along ridge road

Upper 50's to around 60 on the northern 1/2 of the city of Rochester

60 to 65 across the southern half of the city of Rochester

Upper 60's across the southern suburbs southward across the rest of the county.

Put it all together and you get a 20 degree contrast from lake shore to southern Monroe county.
