Rainy at Times Today

Written by John DiPasquale:

Mother Nature will water our lawns for us today & tomorrow, before a drier weather pattern sets up again for the most part this weekend into the start of next week.

The responsible party for the rains of today is a slow moving warm front that will clear the area later today & early tonight. Once the warm front does move further north late today, I believe we will actually get some decent sun out & it should be mainly dry to round out today through the first part of tonight. Now, with that being said, I still do believe there will be a few widely scattered showers & storms late today & this evening, but any showers will likely be far & few between. Torrential rains are a distinct possibility with any storms that develop today too, which could lead to some urban & poor drainage flooding in spots. Highs today will peak out somewhere between 75 & 80 roughly.

Much of tonight looks pretty quiet with a few showers & storms possible, especially late, in advance of a slow moving cold front & upper air disturbance. Any storm that moves through late tonight & Thursday will have the potential to become strong to severe with strong damaging winds & large hail. We'll keep you posted through Thursday here on News 8. Highs Thursday will likely climb with enough sun into the low to perhaps mid 80s with lots of humidity.

Once the cold front moves through the area Thursday night/early Friday, a drier & cooler air mass will slowly build in Friday & more so over the weekend. Highs will drop back into the comfortable 70s to end the week & take us through the weekend. Enjoy all!

  1. ok so will the weather be north or south of the thruway and if it is north is it a good chance the whole day could be a wash out?

  5. Technical question: Why do I receive the daily post the day after it was actually posted? The email says received one hour ago (6/23), but your comments were posted yesterday (6/22)
