Severe Storms Possible Later Today

Written by John DiPasquale:

The warm, steamy air mass is entrenched across the region now, & will help fuel some showers & storms today, especially this afternoon & evening. A few of these storms could become severe with strong damaging winds & large hail. The culprit for the scattered showers & storms today will be an approaching, slow moving cold front & weak upper air disturbance. Highs today for most of the region will be in the low 80s.

The cold front will slowly ease tonight & Friday morning with a few additional showers right into the day on Friday. Temperatures will fall back into to mid 70s, with somewhat lower humidity levels to round out the week.

The weekend will feature mainly dry conditions, with just a spotty, lingering shower or two around on Saturday, & more in the way of sun Sunday. Temperatures will struggle to reach the low 70s Saturday, while mid 70s should do it for Sunday. A warm up seems to be in store for the first part of next week. Stay tuned.
