Not a Washout, but Showery Today

Written by John DiPasquale:

The combination of a slow moving cold front & an upper level disturbance will set the stage for a somewhat unsettled Friday, but NOT a washout. There will be a scattering of showers & an afternoon storm or two. So if you have plans to head out to the LPGA at Locust Hill, or any other outdoor activities set up be prepared to get damp at times. We will have a muggy high in the mid 70s today.

The cold front will get through here late today/tonight, which will lead to a drier day tomorrow, but with yet another strong disturbance rotating around the upper level low in Southeastern Canada I have to keep a few showers & maybe a storm or two in the forecast Saturday, especially through the early afternoon. It will also be windy & cool to kick off the weekend with highs struggling to reach 70.

High pressure will finally exert itself & provide us with a real winner to wrap up the weekend with sun & highs in the mid 70s Sunday.

Come early next week we will warm back into the 80s with lots of sun Monday, but some showers & storms will likely return for Tuesday ahead & with a cold front.

Have a great day & weekend everyone!

  1. Oh well, the lawn was just turning brown. I was looking forward to a break from the constant mowing. Should have known it was too good to last.

  2. Another downpour in Lyons today (Sat.) Some standing water in the garden. Whatever happened to the days of soft gentle rains? Can you remember the last time we had such a rain? Seems like all we get now are cloud bursts.

Sal - an effect of climate change?

  4. And what about last summer's dryness? Was that climate change too? Don't get suckered into this climate change bull crap. Weather changes from year to year. No two summers have ever been exactly the same. Some are cooler, some are hotter, some are drier, some are wetter. There's a reason almanacs were established...because records and such happen over the years due to VARIABILITY. Not EVERYTHING is a product of climate change. Al Gore is feeding us crap.

  5. last SPRING was dry last summer was a swamp,. June & July both had nearly 6" of rain EACH. Aug was "normal" followed by a wet fall. The last dry summer was 2007.
This year we had a terrible winter followed by a terrible spring and summer isn't shaping up too great so far either--two good weeks does not make a "summer", except in Rochester where "good" weather is judged against abysmally low standards.

BTW I agree with the global warming statement above---it's hype.

  6. Are we ever going to break out of the this dismal pattern. I was down at Keuka lake this weekend and it felt like fall. We were all in jeans and sweatshirts at the end of June. What the heck is going on??????

  7. As I've said before, the one nice thing about a summer like this....you don't mind it as much when it's winter again!

  8. I completely agree with AGW 101 & Anonymous. Global warming from Gore is totally blown out of proportion & it's just a political agenda.
