The Sun Returns Finally!

Written by John DiPasquale:

Wow!!! Finally, the sun has appeared in earnest! While it had a tough time doing so over the weekend, today will be a different story. The sun will mix with some occasional high & a few fair weather cumulus clouds today thanks to high pressure taking charge overhead. Meanwhile a storm system out west across the Upper Midwest is trucking this way & will be arriving here tomorrow. So enjoy today, because tomorrow will definitely not be as nice. Highs today will reach the low 80s for most, but mid to upper 70s near & along the lake shore due to a lake breeze.

Tonight will be quiet, mild & a bit muggy with clouds tending to increase especially late. Clouds will continue to increase quickly tomorrow morning & ultimately lead to some showers & storms late Tuesday morning into the afternoon. A few of the storms that move through tomorrow afternoon could become strong to severe with damaging wind gusts & large hail. Stay tuned to News 8 for the latest regarding the severe weather potential tomorrow.

Behind the cold front, the culprit for the severe weather Tuesday, we will turn refreshingly cooler & drier with gusty northwest winds developing Tuesday night into Wednesday. It should feel great Wednesday!

High pressure will likely crest overhead Thursday & provide a lot of sun & comfortably warm temperatures around 80.

After a mainly quiet Friday with some sun & an afternoon/evening storm or two with a warm front, we will likely be affected by a cold front Saturday/Saturday night with a few showers & storms. However, at this point, Saturday does NOT look like a washout & it appears that we will clear out & cool off some for Sunday & the 4th itself! We'll see. Stay tuned through the week as we here at News 8 continue to fine tune the forecast as new information becomes available.

Have a great day & enjoy the nice weather everyone!
