Definite Fall Feel Out There
Written by John DiPasquale:
Well, the much wetter and more active August continues after yet another significant rainfall occurs in WNY yesterday. Almost an inch & a quarter fell Sunday with the showers & storms, & a possible tornado touched down in Eastern Wayne & Cayuga counties between about 3 & 4 Sunday! The National Weather Service is out there now surveying the damage to determine whether it in fact was a tornado, or just straight line winds that created the damage out there. Based on pictures & video that I've seen thus far, it appears that it was an EF0 or EF1 that touched down in & around Clyde Savannah yesterday. Stay tuned to News 8 for the latest.
Today will be windy & cool in the wake of Sunday's cold front with a few spotty showers/storm possible thanks to a weak reinforcing cool front & a bit of lake effect off of Lake Ontario. That's right, the air will be cool enough to support lake clouds & a spotty shower or two. There will be plenty of dry time & some sun today too, though. However, despite some sun today highs will only reach the low 70s.
Tonight will be quiet & cool under some clouds, as high pressure takes care of us tonight & it appears right into much of Wednesday. There will be a warm front drifting through tomorrow with quite a few clouds at times, but we should stay dry. Southwest breeze will aid in pushing the temperatures well into the 70s tomorrow & into the mid 80s come Wednesday on the backside of high pressure to our southeast. The approach of a cold front may set off a shower/storm late Wednesday, but for the most part Wednesday looks windy, much warmer & quiet with some sun at times.
Wednesday night into Thursday a cold front will deliver a few showers & storms, & in it's wake a cooler & drier air mass will blow in later Thursday into Thursday night. Temperatures will cool back into the upper 70s to around 80 Thursday & should make the low 80s Friday with lots of sun expected to round out the week!
The weekend looks a bit iffy with a few scattered showers & storms possible with a weakening cool front Saturday, while we will closely monitor Irene for the tail end of the weekend into the start of next week. Irene could, & likely will affect much of the eastern seaboard in one form or another between this Thursday & next Tuesday. Stay tuned for the latest this week on her progress & developments.
Have a great day & enjoy the taste of autumn today everyone!
Autumn is really beautiful season. And i liked this post to read in detail. thanks for sharing it dear.
ReplyDeleteEF2 Tornado was confirmed in Savannah. Estimated between 115-120 mph. Strongest tornado in that area in about 30 years!
