Some Much Needed Rains

Written by John DiPasquale:

Some occasional rain this morning will give way to a few spotty showers/sprinkles & possibly a pop up t-storm this afternoon under lots of clouds. Temperatures due to the cloud cover & sporadic showers will be kept in check, as we'll peak out in the mid to maybe upper 70s. The area of low pressure at the surface & aloft will slowly traverse the region later today & early tonight. Behind the system, a bit of clearing will evolve later tonight & more so late tomorrow morning & afternoon. Temperatures, as a result of the breaks of sun developing Thursday, will be a little warmer tomorrow compared to today, as we'll top out in the low 80s.

High pressure will slowly drift to the east Friday, which will set us up for a developing southerly flow of warmer & more muggy air to end the week. At this point it looks like there will be some decent sun Friday, which will warm us well into the 80s & may set off a couple of widely scattered pop up storms later in the day.

The weekend looks somewhat better for Saturday, but not quite as good on Sunday. The weak storm moving into the area will likely take a bit longer to do so, & if that in fact is the case, it will be mainly dry Saturday with just a few widely scattered pop up storms later in the day. However, showers & storms will probably become more likely Sunday as cold front will barrel through late Sunday/Sunday night. In the wake of the storm & it's cold front, it will turn much more comfortable & quite breezy, if not windy, to begin next week with more sun returning too. Enjoy!

  1. Not much rain again though. .08 at the airport. It looks like most of the rain will fall east of us. Last night everyone was saying the heaviest rain will fall West of us. Weather changes very quickly.

A steady two hours of moderate to heavy rain fell out here in northern Wayne Co. Puddles in my yard brought back memories of our spring weather when simply seeing a dry road surface in front of my house was a rarity.

  3. Back to mowing wet grass---Yeahh!!!!! That dry spell (and that's all it was) was like a vacation.
Summer's over, within a week or so we'll be drowning again.
