Better, but Clouds Still Rule Today
Written by John DiPasquale:
Gray today, but at least it will be mainly dry unlike Labor Day & later tonight & tomorrow (Wednesday). The clouds will unfortunately have the upper hand in the sky not only today, but probably right through the rest of the week, though it should get at least a little brighter by weeks end.
The cold front that moved through late Sunday night/early yesterday has become almost stationary near the east coast. This is allowing the remains of Tropical Storm Lee to move up along the front to the south & east of us right now. However, as the decaying Lee crawls to the north northeast into West Virginia later tonight into Wednesday the moisture will build back in from the south & southeast. This will lead to some rain developing late tonight & Wednesday, which could become heavy at times Wednesday afternoon & tomorrow night, especially just south & east of the Rochester area. While a good inch or so could fall here in the Greater Rochester area from later tonight through the start of Thursday, parts of the Southern Tier/Finger Lakes region could receive 2 to 5"+! This has prompted the NWS to issue Flood Watches for Yates & Seneca counties points south & east from tonight through Thursday for the POTENTIAL of flooding. Stay tuned to News 8 for the very latest.
After a scattering of showers lingering Thursday & Friday, the weather should dry out for the most part come the weekend with some sun & fairly seasonable temperatures.
Have a great day WNY!
