Mid Summer Steam in September

Written by John DiPasquale:

A summery start to September will eventually give way to fall come Labor Day as temperatures will go from the mid 80s to around 90 today through Sunday, before slipping back into the 60s during the day Monday. Between now & then there will be a few scattered showers & storms possible late tonight into the start of Saturday due to a weakening cold front that is expected to fall apart over us tomorrow. Much of Saturday, though, should be dry, which is great news for your outdoor plans. Later Sunday afternoon through Monday morning a second, stronger cold front will move across the area & bring us back to reality with some showers/storm slowly tapering later on Labor Day. So to sum up the weather for the holiday weekend, I would say that the best day of the holiday weekend will be Saturday for your outdoor plans, followed by Sunday, & the most unsettled & gray day will likely be Monday. With that being said, NO one day over the weekend will be a washout.

Autumn will likely be in the air for much of next week with highs in the mid 60s to low 70s Tuesday & Wednesday, before a bit of moderating possibly takes place. We'll have to watch moisture from eventual tropical storm Lee late next week, along with possibly Katia as she MAY approach the east coast of the US late next week/weekend. Stay tuned to News 8 for the latest.

Have a great holiday weekend & enjoy the summery weather!
