The 80s Return!

Written by John DiPasquale:

August numbers are in & it turned out to be a very average month temperature wise, but also ended up being the 9th wettest August on record, but nothing compared to our neighbors to the east where it was the wettest month on record in Philly & second wettest August on record in our state capital of Albany.

September will be starting off very summery, after a nice comfortable stretch the last few days. So if you have pool/beach plans, especially Friday or Saturday, it looks like the weather will cooperate for the most part. There will be a slight risk for an isolated shower/storm popping up Friday & a little bit better of a chance for a few scattered showers & storms come Saturday, but still plenty of dry time appears to be on tap for Saturday too. Highs in the wake of a warm front Friday into Saturday will reach the mid 80s to near 90, & maybe slightly cooler Saturday due to some extra clouds & the few scattered showers & storms with a weakening cold front settling in from the north & west. Meanwhile, a stronger & somewhat more active cold front will move in Sunday into Sunday night from the west, which will really cool us off by Labor Day. I still don't believe Sunday will be a washout by any means, but it does look a little bit more unsettled than Saturday at this time. Temperatures should get no higher than around 80 Sunday, before crashing back to about 70 to end the holiday weekend behind the second stronger cold front. Labor Day right into Tuesday will likely turn quite windy too, accentuating the cooler, autumn air, as feel of fall will really settle in. Highs Monday through next Wednesday will probably reside in the mid 60s to low 70s, with overnight lows ranging from the mid 40s to mid 50s. Have the fleece ready!

Have a great day WNY!
