Wild Wednesday Waterspout From Summer Storms
Some dramatic pictures out of Kendall, Orleans County early Wednesday afternoon.... This picture comes from one of our viewers, Elly Stevens. It was taken as a line of thunderstorms came through over Lake Ontario with a potent cold front. Take a look at the left-hand side shot and you'll see a developing funnel cloud descending from the bottom of the main cloud deck! If the funnel ended up touching the Lake waters, it would be considered a waterspout. A waterspout is a tornado that contacts a body of water. Waterspouts are typically weaker than our traditional "land" tornadoes.
