Hit And Miss Storms Not Enough!
Written by Scott Hetsko:
Long, sunny stretches and only scattered thunderstorms have resulted in one of our driest summer's since 1940! Through August 27th, only 5.66" of rain has fallen in Rochester since May 1st. That's only about 50% of normal and the lowest amount for that period since 1965. Area apple growers will likely see lower production due to a long, dry summer. I don't expect this pattern to change much for the next two weeks. High pressure will remain over the Northeast nearly all this week resulting in more sunshine with only a stray shower or thunderstorm.
