The Ring Of Fire And It Shows!
Written by Jonathan Myers:
To the left is a map of rainfall totals over the first three weeks of August. The reds and pinks represent totals of 5" to locally 20" of rain, whereas the green and blue are below 2". As you can see there is a ring of red, or high totals, revolves around the mid-South, where there has been a predominant rain-free and very hot spell. Called the "Ring Of Fire," this band is where most systems have been traveling, depositing rain.
Unfortunately for us, here in Western New York, where we need the rain, we have been just outside this rain band or the "Ring Of Fire." Therefore we have been missing out, being left relatively parched.
