"La Nina" Winter Could Be Coming!
Written by: Scott Hetsko
Every year around this time, the emails start filling my inbox: "What do you think this winter will be like?" Predicting weather is tough 7 days out, let alone 70 days but a strong clue is found in the Equatorial Pacific Ocean. The map to the left are current ocean temperatures and departures from average taken on October 10th. La Nina, cooler than normal water temperatures, is expected to linger through this coming winter. This usually means more snow and warmer than average temperatures across Western New York. Snowstorms and thaws look like the recipe for winter 2007-2008...time will tell!
