October Extremes!
Written by: Scott Hetsko
This October has begun sunny and on the warm side but that will no doubt change in the weeks to come. Rochester can be hot or cold, wet or dry in October. Actually this month tends to be one of the driest not only locally but across the United States. This is because the Tropics start to quiet down and the Jetstream is mostly zonal (West to East) during the month. Snow starts coming into the picture by the end of the month. Our record snowfall for the month is 2.6" set in 1993. You might remember a "white Halloween" that year!
