Wild Wednesdays 2008

Written by: Brian Neudorff

It is more coincidence than anything scientific, but for the winter months of 2008 our most active day of the week has been Wednesday. It got to the point that every time I discussed a potential storm or significant weather event in our news meetings I would hear, "Must be Wednesday if the weather is going to turn ugly."

You can see in the graphic that our two big wind storms took place on Wednesday in January. During February and early March, most of the winter storms that brought snow, sleet and freezing rain took place on Wednesday. With a few snow events mixed in during the second half of February. We've also seen at least a trace of precipitation fall each and every Wednesday going back to January 2nd. Today, Wednesday March 26th, may be the nicest Wednesday we have seen all year.
