Falling into Autumn
Written Brian Neudorff
For many of us, summer comes to an end with the Labor Day holiday and when school is back in session but summer doesn't official come to an end until the sun passes directly over the equator as the Northern Hemisphere begins to tilt away from the sun. The sun will be directly over the equator at 11:44 a.m. EDT. The sun's direct rays will continue to migrate south until reaching the Tropic of Capricorn, in the southern hemisphere, on the first day of winter.
