BLOG: 12/26/2008 SO FAR DECEMBER HAS BEEN BELOW AVERAGE

Written by: Brian Neudorff

As Bob mentioned in his previous post, this weekend will be warmer. If the forecast for Saturday we could see our warmest temperature for the month. Our warmest temperature so far this month was back on December 15th when we hit 56. We could easily tie or surpass that on Saturday.

For the month of December, as of December 26th at 3:30 p.m. EST in Rochester, our average temperature is 29.2 degrees which is nearly one degree (-0.9 degrees) below average. Our coldest temperature for the month was 9 degrees above on December 22nd. Our Coldest days were Dec. 20th & Dec. 22 where were 12 degree below the average. As far as being warm, e've also had 3 days in the 50s:

Dec. 9 - 50
Dec. 10 - 51
Dec. 15 - 56

Even though we will see this weekend reach the 50s I am not sure it will be enough to bring our average December temperature at or above average for the month, but given all the cold weather we've seen this month it will be a nice break from it. So enjoy.
