New snow for New Year's?

Written by: Bob Metcalfe

It's hard to believe that three days ago, most of us had over a foot of snow almost everywhere. The recent slew of warm weather, combined with plenty of rain and strong winds all put the kibosh on that, with the only remnants of snow in the spots where the plows stacked it up.

Now the cold will start to fill in over the next few, and last few days, of 2008, with a good shot at a quick area-wide snow New Year's Eve (Wednesday) into Jan 1, 2009. This will be the result of a quick moving low that will skim by to our north, with a few hours of decent snow possible. It is quick moving, so it won't have major impact, but slick roads on the big night are likely once the snow starts to fall. More on this as it approaches, but if you are making plans, you will want to stay tuned over the next few days.

Until then, the winds die down tonight, with mid 40s for us on Monday morning. Hard to believe that being 10 degrees above normal tomorrow will feel colder than today!
