DECEMBER REMEMBERS WINTER!
Written by: Bob Metcalfe
Two orders of business in this blog post:
1. I know that in the previous post I said that if we survived early this morning without seeing snow, we would exit the month snow-free. There is a SLIGHT, SLIGHT chance that a few flakes could mix in extremely late Monday night, just before midnight. BUT, will the airport see this change, and will the changeover come to the lower elevations? Regardless, it would be an impact free event.
Okay with that being said:
2. COLD! Not record stuff. Not "wow let's get out of here and move to Florida" cold. But colder than we've been in a while weather is on its way. We've been closely monitoring the air well to our north, closer to the Arctic circle and such, and its more antsy than a kid on Christmas Eve. Well folks, it gets its shot to run free, and we'll experience a drop in temperatures this week, with averages closer to normal (highs in the low 40s, overnights in the low 30s/20s) This change will occur starting Monday.
And a third note. Although its a ways out, I'm starting to see signs of our first potentially interesting lake effect snow even by next weekend. If things play out, we could see area-wide cold and snow. Stay tuned!
